Your Will, a caring legacy

Everyone needs a Will. It is your way of showing how you care — and ensures that your assets are distributed according to your wishes.

When you make your Will, you have the opportunity to enhance the lives of disadvantaged Canberra children, young people and families with a legacy through Marymead Child and Family Centre.

How do I leave a bequest to Marymead Child and Family Centre?

There are several ways to leave a bequest to Marymead.

You may wish to leave a percentage of your assets, or a lump sum. Remember though, the value of a lump sum will diminish in time, whereas your assets will increase.

You may wish to leave a gift of securities, an insurance policy, or perhaps an antique.

Sometimes we receive bequests when it is too late to thank the benefactor. We want you to be a 'Partner in Caring' with us right now - and to be able to see just how much your support means to Marymead, and the lives of children, families and young people that you support. Please contact us if you already plan to leave a gift to Marymead.

Bequests make the difference

Marymead could never have achieved the success that it has had without those who have left legacies in their Wills.

Every bequest, no matter how large or small are appreciated and acknowledged with a plaque at Marymead. It’s our way of saying thank you, and remembering those who have helped us make a difference to a child’s life far into the future.

Wording your bequest

To make a bequest, simply insert the following wording (or similar) into your will. Speak to your lawyer or contact Marymead if you have any further questions.

BEQUEST CLAUSE FOR MARYMEAD

I GIVE the sum of $________ (total amount or percentage of estate) to the TRUSTEES OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE OF CANBERRA AND GOULBURN AS TRUSTEE FOR THE MARYMEAD CHILD AND FAMILY CENTRE (“Marymead Child and Family Centre”) of 255 Goyder St Narrabundah, ACT, to be applied toward the general purposes of the Marymead Child and Family Centre and I DIRECT that the receipt of the secretary, treasurer or other authorised officer of the Marymead Centre will be an absolute discharge for my trustee.
