Marymead Auxiliary

The Marymead Auxiliary has existed as long as Marymead itself - since 1967. The Auxiliary was largely responsible for raising the much needed funds to establish the initial centre. They did this through a variety of social events, the most famous of which was the Marymead Walkathon which ran for over 10 years and was Canberra's largest community event for that time. Today, the Auxiliary's most popular event is our Annual Fete in November, which is always a hit with the local community!

The hard working Auxiliary continues to this day, its members giving their time and energy to raising vital funds for the ongoing work of Marymead. One thing is certain - it would not be Marymead without our Auxiliary, and we give them our most heartfelt thanks for all they do!

The Marymead Auxiliary:

  • has existed since Marymead began in 1967
  • has around 36 membersand still has several founding members
  • raises around $40,000 each year for Marymead, which goes towards essential infrastructure and innovative new programs
  • is honoured to have Lady Helen Deane as the Patron
  • works tirelessly for the good of Marymead and Canberra's most vulnerable children and families
