Marymead Birthday Lunch launches 40th year
Marymead Child and Family Centre will celebrate its 40th Anniversary and launch a year of commemorative events at a Birthday Lunch on Sunday March 11th at the Southern Cross Club Woden.
The Canberra community are invited to join them at the lunch and help mark this significant milestone in their history. Marymead will also launch the ‘Brighter Beginnings’ Campaign, seeking to raise $300,000 to fund a new wing for expanding Early Childhood programs for young Canberra children at risk.
“Research shows that intervening early in the lives of vulnerable children gives them a much better chance for a brighter future” says Marymead CEO Dawson Ruhl, “In fact, for every dollar invested in the early years, the community saves $17 later on in health and welfare costs – not to mention the difference made in the life of the child!”
“Marymead wants to address this critical gap in Canberra services – and I know we can do so through the support of the Canberra community, who have been with us since 1967.”
The Marymead 40th Birthday Lunch is a great opportunity for the community to show their support for Canberra’s own children’s charity and be part of creating a brighter future for children. Present at the lunch will be special guests including some of the original Sisters who started Marymead and many other friends. There will be raffles and the chance to ‘Buy a Brick’ for Marymead too!
Marymead has been part of the Canberra family for 40 years, supporting struggling families and caring for children who cannot live at home. If you are interested in attending this or other 40th events please contact Marymead on 6162 5800 or www.marymead.org.au. Marymead is also seeking supporters and sponsors to help reach their fundraising goal.
