Marymead’s Annual Fete Just Gets Better with Age!

The Annual Marymead Child and Family Centre Fete is on again this year, on Saturday November 5th.

The Marymead Fete has been a popular community event for almost 40 years! That’s as long as Marymead has been part of the Canberra community, caring for children and supporting families. The Fete remains Marymead’s primary fundraiser, having been held at various times and locations over the years – even the Lodge!

The Fete is run by the tireless Marymead Auxiliary, a group of predominantly women who put on fundraising events throughout the year. All the money they raise goes straight to Marymead, helping them in their ongoing work caring for Canberra’s less fortunate children.

Marymead hopes this year’s Fete will be their biggest and best, as they are in great need of funds to buy therapeutic toys and furniture for their new Child and Family Counselling Service, and to refurbish their aging residential cottages where some children reside who are unable to live at home.

This year’s Fete promises to be the best yet, featuring the ACT Woodworker’s Guild, Lions IdentiKid, Kenny Koala and so much more. The Wheelbarrow Christmas Hamper Raffle, Chocolate Wheel, fresh homemade cakes, plants, and fun for the kids are other features that keep the locals coming back year after year… not to mention supporting Canberra’s own children’s charity. Why not come along this year and support their valuable work?

Who is Marymead? Marymead is a local community-based child and family service, creating brighter futures for Canberra’s children. We preserve and support families, and care for children and young people who cannot be at home.
