Kinship Advocacy, Representation and Support Service (KARSS)
KARSS offers the following services to authorised kinship carers in the ACT. Authorised kinship carers are carers providing day to day care to children who are under the care of the Chief Executive.
- A phone line 6162 5846 and email address enquiries@karss.org.au for carers to contact when seeking advice relating to their role and experiences as a kinship carer. Information available includes services and supports offered in the community to kinship carers.
- The KARSS service is staffed from 10am-2pm on weekdays. Calls made or emails sent outside of these hours will be responded to promptly within these times.
- Representation in discussions with Care and Protection Services in case specific situations and the opportunity to contribute to policy development.
- Social activities for carers to help in developing a supportive network of others with kinship carer experiences.
