Families Together Support Progam
About This Program
The Families Together program offers the opportunity for families and children experiencing difficulties to develop or rebuild skills they need to be able to live successfully together.
How We Work / Who Can Use This Program
Families Together works with the whole family in their homes to help parents build on their parenting skills and care for their children. Some families need a hand during the many difficult stages of family life. Sometimes children are at risk of being placed in care, or are returning home having lived away from home for a period.
The length of time and the level of intensity with which we work with each family will vary from family to family. These arrangements are worked out between the program and the family.
We focus on building a relationship with families in order to support them in achieving their identified goals. We do this by visiting families in their homes on a regular basis and working with them in a variety of ways.
Goals Most Often Chosen by Families:
- learning new ways of parenting
- improving family communication
- helping children change problem behaviour/ school difficulties
- building self-esteem
- learning ways to better manage anger
- reducing stress
- reduce family fighting
- increasing positive leisure activities
- increasing support for parents
- strengthening family’s knowledge and use of community services
We accept direct enquiries from parents and carers as well as referrals from the Office for Children, Youth and Family Support.
